Ender’s Shadow by Orson Scott Card
What are you reading and what’s it about?
I’m reading Ender’s Shadow by Orson Scott Card. I loved Ender’s Game [the first in the series] so much. It’s one of my favorite books. It takes place on Earth in the the really far future. Aliens attacked in the past and kids are getting trained to fight them, so it’s about the journey of young boys in a galactic school. I like who Ender is. But this one’s interesting because now it’s from the perspective of another character, Bean.
What do you like about the book?
Orson Scott Card is one of my favorite authors. He writes science fiction but you don’t feel like you’re in a sci-fi world. It’s very real and descriptive, and the characters get so complicated very quickly. You don’t know them at first but they also don’t know themselves, and you’re learning while they learn. I always find myself lost in the character. It’s so easy to read. It’s like I’m living in the book. I just love the way he writes: it speaks to me.
