Nantucket Bookworm – Amy Ruby of ACK Eye
What are you reading right now? The Girls by, Emma Cline
Short synopsis:A narrative account of a woman reflecting on her young adult years in the 1960s when she found herself alienated from her family and wooed by the intimacy of a small but powerful cult.
Short review: “I am currently just midway through, but Cline’s storytelling is captivating and her narrative, while disturbing, is exceptionally insightful and well-crafted.”
Favorite Nantucket Book: Moby Dick by Herman Melville
(The English teacher in me just can’t let go of those classics!)
Favorite Non-fiction Book: Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris.
(I laughed so hard I wept.)
Favorite Book of 2016: I am just realizing that most of the books I have read this year are copyrighted 2014 or 2015, so I guess I’m a little behind the times. I think the best book *published in 2016* that I have read is Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler
Favorite Mystery: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
(A guilty pleasure: I devoured it and immediately wanted more!)
Favorite Book as A Child: Freckle Juice by Judy Blume
(Judy Blume was my gateway drug to young adult fiction)
Favorite Author: I have so many favorites for so many different reasons, but forced to choose, I’d say Jonathan Safran Foer.
